Travel accessories can literally change your life. Ok…well at least for the brief moment they are serving a purpose. Example A: Screaming child behind you on the airplane, enter noise cancelling headphones….ahh the sound of silence!
Not all travel accessories are created equal, but a few expertly chosen (by me of course) can be game changers! These are in no particular order as I find them all essential for travel.

- Moment Wide Angle Lens and Moment Phone Case – Ditch your
heavy, bulky camera and get this lens for your phone! Yes, this is coming from a professional photographer. The truth is our phones take really great pictures and with this lens you can capture amazing travel shots. It’s a game changer.
- Contour Eye Mask for Travel– I prefer the contoured sleep masks that don’t touch your eyes. I love Bucky masks for the price and variety of colors.
- Relax Melodies App – I use this app for white noise every night when traveling to drown out any random sleep disrupting clatter. You can layer sounds to find your perfect sleep promoting noise. I use Whitenoise, Heavy Rain, and Cat Purring…don’t judge.
- Warm cozy layer – A must have on trips is a mid or outer layer that is soft and warm. It makes the freezing plane right more comfortable and you’ll be so glad you brought it for unexpected cooler weather, cool nights, or chilly hotel rooms. I prefer a cashmere wrap sweater or light fleece.
- Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones or Ear Plugs – Do not travel without one or both. You will regret it. Street noise, elevator dings, loud party group, snoring partner…..
- Compression Packing Cube – I recently started using these and am OBSESSED. They can half the amount of space my clothes take up. And I prefer this brand for size and easy zipper closure.
- Hard Sided Luggage– If you still have a two wheel suitcase, please do yourself a favor and chuck it. Get a hard sided (more space) with FOUR wheels. Your back will be thrilled.
- Travel Size Toiletries – Why carry around dead weight? In the game of travel weight is king! I’ve condensed all of my toiletries for up to 3 weeks to fit in a quart size bag.
- Hand Sanitizer and Disinfecting Wipes (yep that’s two but I made them one) – I get so many comments when I break out my disinfecting wipes to sanitize my tray-table, arm rest and seat belt. I usually smile through my teeth and then giggle to my self because I know the last time those things were cleaned…..NEVER! 10% of what you touch at the airport is carrying a virus. Just let that sink in for a minute. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to spend my holidays being sick. If wearing a mask was socially acceptable I would totally do it on airplanes.
Travel Pro Tip: Dirtiest places in an airport are the check-in kiosks, armrests, TSA bins, and your tray table. Hand sanitizer people….HAND S-A-N-I-T-I-Z-E-R. - Lavender Rice Pack – Ok so this one is not essential for travel BUT I take it everywhere with me. Yes it’s bulky and weighs a lot and this is totally bad travel advise, but I can’t live without it! I get cold. I hate being cold. And after a long trip, a hot rice pack on my back feels amazing. I usually stay in apartments or houses when I travel so I have access to a microwave. You can imagine my disappointment when I have to stay somewhere without one. Gasp. Side Note: Put the rice pack in your checked bags, because TSA will take it out and test it…every-time.
Happy Travels!
